Planetary Science, Astronomy, and Space Physics Module

Date:

This engaging STEM module introduces students to the science of planets, moons, stars, and the universe, while exploring the physics behind gravity, light, orbital motion, rockets, and space exploration.
Through hands-on experiments, models, and mission-based challenges, students discover how scientists observe and understand objects beyond Earth.
What Students Will Explore
  • Solar System Models – Build scale models to understand the size, distance, and structure of our solar system.
  • Moon Phases – Explore the changing appearance of the Moon through hands-on demonstrations.
  • Crater Experiments – Investigate how impact speed, size, and surface conditions affect crater formation.
  • Constellation Mapping – Identify and map constellations while learning how astronomers navigate the night sky.
  • Gravity & Orbits – Explore how gravity influences the movement of planets, moons, and spacecraft.
  • Rocket Design – Learn basic rocket principles and design challenges while exploring propulsion and forces.
  • Telescope & Sky Observation – Discover how telescopes help us observe and study objects in space.
  • Mars Rover Missions – Design a rover and plan a mission to explore the surface of Mars.
  • Planetary Data – Analyse simple planetary data and use evidence to make scientific observations.
  • Space Mission Presentations – Develop and present a space exploration mission based on scientific and engineering principles.
